Atari 2600/VCS
The first widely successful console with interchangeable cartridges, the 2600 (or Video Computer System) revolutionized the home market and went on to sell millions of consoles and year and made billions of dollars of revenue for Atari. In 1983, thanks to overproduction of many titles and a glut of poorly produced software, the 2600 led the video game crash, and although it was supported with new releases all the way until the 90s, it never sold near the quantities it did before 1983.
